What do we do?
Occupational therapy encompasses a wide variety of services.
We strive to improve the quality of life of our clients across the lifespan through removing, modifying or adapting barriers and improving on any areas of difficulty they may have.
Our Services Include:
Hand Therapy
“Man, through the use of his hands, as they are energized by mind and will, can influence the state of his own health.”
~ Mary Reilly
Our hands are the key to being able to do what we do everyday. Injuries, illness or disability can have a monumental impact on our daily function as both adults and children. Difficulties may include oedema, pain, joint stiffness, decreased range of motion or increased/decreased muscle tone/muscle strength.
You may be provided with therapeutic exercises and activities to help you to overcome these impairments, or have a splint, pressure garment, or assistive device manufactured as needed.
Cognitive Rehabilitation
“Occupational therapy practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”
~ Virginia Stoffel, OT
Functional cognition relates to the cognitive skills required to complete those daily activities we all know so well such as financial management, meal planning, medication management, community living skills and self care.
We require executive functions such as memory, attention, problem solving, decision making and self-monitoring skills to complete our daily activities successfully.
Once assessed, you may be provided with therapeutic exercises o help you to improve these functions, and teach you to manage these challenges in your day-to-day life.
Physical Rehabilitation
“Medicine adds days to life, occupational therapy adds life to days.”
Following surgery, illness or disability you may struggle with impaired balance, muscle strength, lack of coordination, changes in muscle tone, postural abnormalities, fatigue, chronic pain, and difficulty using their body for functional mobility and daily activities.
Therapeutic activities and exercises may be used to assist you to overcome these challenges, or advise you on equipment and assistive devices to facilitate improved participation in your daily activities and ensure your mobility.

Hippotherapy
“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.”
-Virginia Axline
Hippotherapy is a therapeutic intervention strategy in which the movement of a horse is used as part of an intervention plan. develop and enhance neurological and physical functioning by channeling the movement of the horse. Hippotherapy is built on the concept that the individual’s neuromuscular development is enhanced when their body makes adjustments to the gait, tempo, rhythm, repetition and cadence of a horse’s movement.
Both adults and children are able to take part in Hippotherapy sessions.

Hippotherapy
"There is nothing better for the inside of a man, than the outside of the horse"
Both Adults and Children can benefit from Hippotherapy.
Hippotherapy shortens recovery times, improves muscle control/balance while still improving a client's cognitive functions such as attention, memory, problem solving, visual-motor integration, visual perceptual skills and sensory processing through activity on a horse/pony.
Vocational Rehabilitation
It can be daunting to return to work following a period of illness, or with an acquired disability.
By carrying out a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), an occupational therapist can assess your capacity to meet the demands of your job.
We can then provide intervention and recommendations to facilitate your return to work through work simulation programs or help you to explore alternative options.
Caregiver Training
Managing your daily activities at home (such as getting in and out of bed, navigating your bathroom, and acquiring a daily routine) with a disabling condition can be daunting - for both the patient and their caregivers.
We are experienced in handling people with physical and psychological impairments and can provide training for family and caregivers to ensure maximum independence, safety, efficiency and quality of life in the home environment.
Home Visits
"Home is the heart of Life"
Should you be unable to leave your home due to difficulty navigating the community or a lack of mobility, our therapists can come to you.
We are able to carry out individual therapy in the home and suggest adaptions where necessary that can improve independence and facilitate a better quality of life for the client.
